Satin Floral

A long-staple cotton satin bedding set in the Yellow Floral pattern — the construction that defines the difference between cotton bedding and premium cotton satin bedding. Long-staple cotton uses fibres that are longer than standard cotton, which means the yarn is finer, the weave is denser, and the surface is smoother. The satin weave places the majority of the warp threads on the surface of the fabric, creating a smooth, lustrous finish that reflects light in a way that plain or twill weaves cannot. The Yellow Floral Pattern

The Yellow Floral pattern is a warm, botanical floral design printed onto the long-staple cotton satin surface. The reactive print bonds the colour directly to the cotton fibre — the yellow tones are warm and rich, and the floral design has a depth and definition that surface printing cannot achieve. The satin surface gives the floral pattern a luminous quality — the printed design catches light differently depending on the angle, which gives the pattern a dimensional quality that flat-woven printed bedding doesn’t have. Works in rooms with white or cream walls and warm lighting — the yellow floral reads as warm and inviting in warm light, and as fresh and botanical in natural light.

Styling Notes

Making the bed — For a considered finish, pull the bed sheet taut before placing the quilt cover. The satin surface reads best on a smooth, flat surface — the Yellow Floral pattern and the satin sheen are most visible when the fabric lies flat and undisturbed. Fold the top of the quilt cover back 25–30cm over the duvet insert and position the pillowcases at the head of the bed.

The satin surface — The satin weave creates a directional sheen — the fabric looks different depending on the angle of the light and the direction of the weave. When making the bed, orient the quilt cover so the sheen reads in the same direction as the light source. In warm, directional light, the satin surface will catch the light and the Yellow Floral pattern will read as luminous and rich.

The 6-piece set — With 4 pillowcases, the 6-piece set allows for a full, layered pillow arrangement at the head of the bed. Place 2 pillowcases flat against the headboard and 2 in front — the result is a full, considered pillow wall that reads as complete and hotel-style.

Room pairing — The Yellow Floral pattern works best in rooms with white or cream walls and warm lighting. Keep surrounding textiles simple — plain white or cream throw pillows, no competing patterns. The Yellow Floral satin is the design statement; everything else should step back. Avoid cool or blue-toned lighting, which flattens the satin sheen and dulls the warm yellow tones.

Lighting — The long-staple cotton satin is the most light-responsive of all cotton constructions. Position the bed near a window or use warm-white directional lighting to bring out the full lustre of the satin surface and the depth of the Yellow Floral reactive print.

• Wash separately for the first wash to prevent colour transfer
