Styling Notes

As a nap blanket — Drape the Doudou loosely over a sofa or armchair, allowing the velvet pile to fall naturally. The solid-colour surface reads best when the blanket is unfolded and draped in a single, generous layer — the deep pile and the weight of the double-layer construction give the blanket a natural, settled drape that reads as considered rather than thrown. Use the 120×200cm or 150×200cm size for a generous nap throw.

As a bed blanket — Lay the Doudou flat across the foot of the bed, folded once to show the velvet surface and the depth of the pile. The double-layer construction gives the blanket a weight and presence that reads as genuinely luxurious on a made bed. For full-bed coverage, use the 200×230cm size and allow the blanket to drape evenly over both sides.

The velvet pile — The thickened nap construction creates a directional pile — the blanket looks different depending on the direction of the pile and the angle of the light. When laying the blanket flat, smooth the pile in a single direction for a consistent, even finish. In warm, directional light, the velvet surface will catch the light and read as genuinely plush and deep.

Lighting — The velvet pile is responsive to light direction. Position the blanket near a window or under warm-white directional lighting to bring out the full depth of the pile and the richness of the colour. Avoid cool or blue-toned lighting, which flattens the pile and dulls the colour.
